Holmdel, N.J. April 6, 2006 Vonage America, a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp., a leading Internet telephony company, today thanked key legislators on the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Telecommunications for granting VoIP service providers access to critical Enhanced 911 (E911) infrastructure during yesterday's mark-up. The bill grants access to selective routers, databases, numbering resources and other essential elements for the provision of E911 for nomadic VoIP services.
"This bill addresses VoIP customers' and providers' most paramount concern: access to E911. We commend the Committee leaders Barton, Upton, Markey, Pickering, Dingell, Rush and Gordon for their commitment and leadership on this issue," said Mike Snyder, CEO, Vonage Holdings Corp. "The big winner here is the consumer. Finally, all voice service providers will have access to the infrastructure they need to offer enhanced 911 to their customers."
